VACANCY:  WORKSHOP SUPERINTENDENT

An exciting opportunity for the position of Workshop Superintendent has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd administers the largest commercial forestry plantations in Zimbabwe. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Group Engineer.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

In charge of Mobile Equipment management across the company.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prioritises and schedules workshop operations in liason with relevant Estate/Area management
  2. Determines, in liason with relevant end users, the types and quantities of spares to be procured in the workshops.
  3. Maintains the stores spares catalogue, ensuring that descriptions and specifications are correct and up to date, and that new stock is created where necessary, and redundant ones are removed.
  4. Co-ordination of spares and equipment repairs where various workshops are involved to ensure timely and efficient execution of work.
  5. Ensure all mobile equipment is maintained in accordance with best practice and as prescribed by Original equipment Manufactures
  6. General administration of the workshops, including ensuring availability of resources, cost control and personnel administration.
  7. Identifies training requirements for personnel in the section
  8. Advises superiors on – personnel appointments and promotions, budgeting requirements and manning requirements for the section.
  9. Any other duties assigned by the Group Engineer

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. A team player – able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommend try interventions.
  2. Able to develop management systems
  3. Excellent presentation skills – Powerpoint
  4. Analytical skills using software tools

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. BSc Hons Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent (from a recognized University

EXPERIENCE

  1. 4 years post qualification experience
  2. Experience as a Head of Vehicle and Mobile equipment in Timber Industry is an added advantage
  3. Structured post graduate training is an added advantage

VACANCY:  ENGINEERING DRAUGHTSMAN (CONTRACT)

An exciting opportunity for the position of Engineering Draughtsman has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd administers the largest commercial forestry plantations in Zimbabwe. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Group Engineer.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide engineering draughting services as required across all estates. Manage activities of the drawing office.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Produce detailed CAD drawings as required
  2. Design simple engineering systems
  3. Carryout site measurements and produce detailed drawings of installed plant and equipment
  4. Produce bill of quantities for designs and drawings
  5. Carryout project management activities
  6. Prepare Tender documents and or Procurement documents in relation to prepared bill of quantities.
  7. Maintain a cataloging system for drawings
  8. Any other duties assigned by the Group Engineer

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. A team player – able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommend try interventions.
  2. Excellent drafting skills
  3. Excellent presentation skills – Powerpoint
  4. Analytical skills using software tools

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Diploma in engineering draughting and design or Equivalent (from a recognized College or University)

EXPERIENCE

  1. 2 years post qualification experience using CAD software (particularly AutoCad)
  2. Experience in mechanical detailing
  3. All round draughting (across different engineering fields) a distinct advantage

VACANCY:  GRADUATE TRAINEE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

An exciting opportunity for the position of Graduate Trainee Mechanical Engineering  has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd administers the largest commercial forestry plantations in Zimbabwe. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Group Engineer.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To develop the Engineer’s technical competences by providing exposure to and directed practical training

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs engineering tasks as directed by the mentor/supervisor such as

  1. Produce technical reports that aide business decisions
  2. Produce Engineering design
  3. Direct plant installations and commissioning
  4. Maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment
  5. Any other duties assigned

 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. A team player – able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommend try interventions.
  2. Excellent presentation skills – Powerpoint
  3. Very analytical skills (excel spreadsheet)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. BSc Hons Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent (from a recognized University)
  2. Keen interest in Physical Asset Management, Plant design, installation and commissioning
  3. Graduated within the past 5 years

EXPERIENCE

  1. Industrial exposure and added advantage
